Flathead Lake, Montana

Flathead Lake, Montana
We stayed two nights here Aug 7-8. Not our favorite type of campground as you can see below we are very close to other campers.  However, we needed to do laundry and pick up some groceries and this type of campground works well for that -- also they have great wifi and we watched a movie on Netflix using our apple tv device!

We also went to St Ignatius Church on our way back from the refuge. The St. Ignatius Mission was built in the early 1890's. This Catholic Church is unique because its walls and ceilings have 58 original paintings by Joseph Carignano who worked as a cook in the early days of the mission.  It is still an operating church and is listed in the National Historic Registry.

You would not know from the outside that this art existed inside
We stayed here mainly because the National Bison (Buffalo) Refuge is here and Clark wanted to tour it. You drive through the refuge and we did see a lot of bison up close and some antelope and deer at a farther distance.  Dined at East Shore Smoke House on some great ribs!

Bailey was thankful for grass to lay on but he is weary of being chained up!

  1. Our "stayer" Mary, worked at that lodge while taking care of her grandparents! She had her first day with students today & it went well. She is very nice - we enjoy having her.
