Lassen Volcanic National Park July 1-5

July 1- 5 Lassen Volcanic National Park was our first stop.  The largest eruption was May 22, 1915.  We camped at Manzanita Lake where Clark is standing with Bailey.w  The snow pack on the main road to the mud pots and thermal areas was still blocked by 35’ of snow so we would have had to drive back about 2 hours and come into the park that way to see some things but could only go so far there due to snow.  The forest service is trying to clear the snow but it would not be finished by the time we departed.  This “hot rock” came from the 1915 eruption and traveled 5 miles before resting here.  You can see Lassen in the background of the photo of the three of us.
